Frequently Asked Questions
The company has an annual production capacity of 250,000 tonnes of steel wire rope, with a product portfolio that includes plain, electro-galvanized, hot-dip galvanized, and plastic-coated ropes. Our product range encompasses binding ropes, point-contact ropes, wire-contact ropes, anti-rotation ropes, compacted ropes, specially shaped ropes, and sealed ropes, covering diameters from 0.5 mm to 120 mm. We are capable of manufacturing to standards such as API, ISO, EN, ASTM, GB, and JIS.
How should wire rope construction be selected under different operating conditions?
As a well-established domestic manufacturer of steel wire ropes, Jiangsu Juli Steel Rope has always maintained that an improper choice of rope construction is the primary cause of a sharp decline in service life, and that three key principles should be followed. 1. General Principles: - Guy ropes and towing ropes: A 6×7 construction is suitable (fewer strands per strand, excellent wear resistance). - Sling ropes and hand-operated winches: A 6×19 construction is recommended (balancing flexibility and wear resistance). - High-speed operation, multi-layer winding, and pulley block applications: A 6×37 or even more flexible construction must be used. The 6×37 design offers a high flexural coefficient, which significantly reduces bending fatigue. - Lifting precision instruments: A 6×61 construction is advised for greater softness and reduced impact on the lifted load. 2. Special Environmental Selection: - Corrosive environments (e.g., mine shafts with water spray, chemical plants, marine settings): Plain-surface wire ropes should not be used. Galvanized, zinc-aluminum alloy–coated, or plastic-coated wire ropes are required, as they can more than double service life. - High-temperature or molten-metal lifting: Wire ropes with asbestos cores or metal cores designed for high temperatures must be used; fiber cores are strictly prohibited. 3. Lay Direction Selection: - General service conditions: Choose a cross-laid construction (where the lay direction of the strands is opposite to that of the wires), as this minimizes twisting and loosening. - Multi-layer winding applications (such as boom extension ropes on crawler cranes): A parallel-laid construction is recommended. Parallel lay provides significantly better resistance to damage at interlayer contact points compared with cross lay.
